Tania Small, MD is a recognized leader in the global medical affairs community, with a career anchored in patient-driven science and a deep commitment to health equity. Drawing on a foundation in cancer care, she has dedicated her work to integrating patient perspectives into evidence generation and delivering more inclusive, transformative solutions in medicine.
As Senior Vice President and Head of Global Medical Affairs at Bristol Myers Squibb, Dr. Small leads cross-functional teams that shape clinical strategy, accelerate innovation, and improve patient access and outcomes around the world.
She earned her medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine, followed by a residency in pediatrics and fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. In 2012, she transitioned into the biopharmaceutical industry, where she has held leadership roles in both drug development and medical affairs at several top 10 companies. Over the past decade, she has successfully advanced and delivered multiple life-saving therapies.
Dr. Small also serves on the membership committee at ASCO, contributes to the executive committee of the American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and sits on the Board of Advisors for the American Cancer Society's NYC chapter.
